Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. This is because the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for decades. Clients from all of the neighboring states load up in cars and travel to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo on the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) became law after a landmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian bands located in Oklahoma have introduced bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Amerindian tribes to take advantage of the gambling laws, and at this time run ten casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which these casinos were founded. Electronic games like slot machine games weren’t permitted, on the grounds that they are believed to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma rules has changed to allow for massive Native gambling gambling halls. You will now find Indian gambling halls with slots, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Amerindian casinos as of yet, although that is simply a waiting game. No one can determine what having different gambling den games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
